School Houses
Bordesley Village Primary school pupils are automatically placed into a school "house" when they arrive in Year 1. The houses are named after precious stones: diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires. House points are gained for all manner of good work and behaviour around the school and contribute towards a half-termly total where the winning house members receive some quality time out of the classroom with their peers for a morning or afternoon. The best house for the year also wins a trip to the local cinema, or bowling or such.
